Bringing Lexington’s Oldest Home Back to Life.

Both of our owners has a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship of historic homes. Nia lives in her childhood family home while Jera recently built farmhouses with careful attention to replicating the architecture and style of early American farmhouses. The Holt House, also known as “The Homestead”, has been an iconic home to Lexington for decades, making it ever present on our radar. We love Uptown Lexington and are excited to be a part of the revival of the uptown scene. The Holt House is located on Main Street, making it within walking distance of some of our city’s most beloved small businesses. Starting this entrepreneurial adventure is a leap of faith; however, we know God has called us to be gracious and hospitable. When the opportunity presented itself, The Holt House’s doors opened to us as the perfect avenue for living out that calling. In 2022, we saw an opportunity to increase our offerings to our clients by partnering with Sterling Spaces. By working with Sterling Spaces, we are able to offer more inclusive and exclusive options. Together we hope to provide our clients radical hospitality and elevated events.

The Holt House & Sterling Spaces Partnership

The Holt House, a historic wedding and special events venue in Lexington, NC, and Sterling Events Group, an event management firm in Mocksville, NC, announced a partnership to market and operate The Holt House for wedding, social, corporate, and non-profit events.

The Holt House was originally built in 1834 by Doctor William Rainey Holt and became famous for its beautiful Greek Revival architecture. It survived the Civil War as a headquarters for Reconstruction in the South. Its place on the National Register of Historic Places confirms its value and legacy to the people and story of Lexington and the surrounding area.

Opened in 2020, owners Jera Hawn and Nia Ward have renovated The Holt House as an extraordinary event venue and added a Garden Pavilion seating up to 150 guests in 2023.

Sterling Events Group will focus on operational duties at the venue, providing The Holt House and their clients new services including food and beverage and bar services, event staffing, operational and accounting systems, and a wide range of rental décor and soft furnishings through Sterling’s new division, Sterling Spaces. Sterling also owns and operates WinMock at Kinderton in Bermuda Run, NC, and manages Triple J Manor House in Mocksville, NC.

Nia and Jera commented, “Being well aware of Sterling Events Group’s reputation for hospitality and success, we were delighted at the opportunity to partner with them. We know that our clients will be in the best hands and continue to receive radical hospitality at every event hosted at the Holt House. “

“We are so excited to begin this partnership”, added Wayne Thomas, President of Sterling Events Group. “The Holt House is a beautiful venue for a wedding or any type of event, and we look forward to serving The Holt House team and their clients.”
